There are many ways to get involved with American Musical Theatre of San Jose. Become a member of AMTSJ Angels and you will experience many rewarding volunteer opportunities. AMTSJ Angels need to be at least 16 years old, provide their own transportation, and sign release forms. Join our team today!

Volunteer Opportunities
Costume Shop
Do you know how to do alterations, hand-sewing, seam-ripping, pattern-making, fabric preparation, or beading? Then use your skills to help create the magic you see on our stage in the costume shop! Actual work assigned will depend on the interest and individual skills of each volunteer.
Development Department
Do you love to assist in fundraising and organize special events? Then join us as we prepare for sneak previews, donor techs, and our annual gala as an ambassador for AMTSJ. Activities in development also include thanking new and current donors via phone, adding handwritten notes to donor correspondence and sending wrap reports to show sponsors, staffing special events, and researching donor databases.
Education & Outreach Department
Do you have a passion for education or accessibility services that serve our community? Then help us staff information booths at community events, the Education & Outreach kiosk at the San Jose Center for Performing Arts for accessibility services, and special events like our Wells Fargo Invited Dress Rehearsals and Tech Talkback Series. Activities in education and outreach also include coordinating community fundraising assistance, assisting teaching artists with program support, and producing educational study guides for educators.
Marketing Department
Do you have a knack for promotions and sales? Then find out what it takes to market musical theatre in the Bay Area by assisting in the production of routine promotional printed materials, and creating marketing files, records, calendars, logs and other documents. Activities in marketing also include public relations, on-site promotions, group sales, and special events.
Production Department
Do you love putting on a show? Then jump into our production pool and find yourself working alongside the creative team for AMTS-produced shows. Activities include liaison work between key production team members, administrative duties, scheduling, and script updates.
Scene Shop
Do you love power tools or painting? Take part in the creative activities in our scene shop that include light carpentry, painting, set dressing, and cataloging our vast inventory of scenic backgrounds and props. Actual work assigned depends on the interest and skill level of each volunteer. All volunteers are asked to wear work clothes and closed-toed shoes.
